2021-2023 Revised Fees Structure For Day And Boarding Schools

Indeed parents have been facing much problems in paying school fees for their learners to get education over a period of time.

The struggle became more worse when most of learners could drop out of schools due lack school fees.

Introduction of the free secondary education program by the Government of Kenya where the burden of paying fee was cut at a given percentage where a parent was supposed to pay a certain amount of fees and the remaining paid by the Government.

The move really helped much where learners were able to access education without much problems.

New school fees structure for academic year 2021, 2022 and 2023 has been announced by the Ministry of Kenya through the revision of the current 2020 school fee calendar.

This agreement was arrived at after considering the number of school weeks the new academic year will have,secretary in charge of Ministry of Education and department of Early learning and basic Education Dr. Julius said.

Information contained in the circular from the government is that the National and Extra-county schools in major towns like Kisumu, Nyeri, Thika, Eldoret, Mombasa, Nakuru and Nairobi will have to pay an annual maximum school fee of 45,000 shillings which is a revised figure from the previous figure of around 55,000 shillings.

A break down of the fee structure of the boarding schools in these towns will be as follows;

TOTAL OF KSH 26,667.00

5. ACTIVITY FEE

GOK-KSH 1,500.00

ANNUAL SCHOOL FEES KSH 67,244.00

With the Extra-County, county and sub-county boarding schools which are not from the major seven towns listed above, parents who will be taking their kids to these schools will be paying a maximum annual school fee of 35,000 shillings.

Government of Kenya through the program of free secondary education to all learners who wish to take the secondary school education, will pay a total of 22,244 shillings to every learner in the new calendar year which was effected on July 2021.

Many parents in Kenya will be highly relieved from the extra burden of the paying a lot of school fees for the purpose of education of their learners.

With the above adjustments, it means that the larger part of the academic year the learners will not spend time in school due to the adverse effect of the covid19 pandemic to the economy.
