A Big Blow To Teachers As the Commission Makes These Deductions

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is the only Commission in Kenya that is mandated to recruit, discipline, promote and remunerate teachers. The commission is currently under the leadership of Dr Nancy Macharia as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Teachers in Kenya exposed to various deductions by both the commission and the government among the deductions include Mwalimu Sacco, Teachers’ Unions such as Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers and National Hospital Insurance Funds (NHIF).

For sometime now, TSC has made teachers undergo a monthly medical deduction through system check offs where teachers pay a minimum of ksh:950.

However, it is now a big blow to teachers after they have been caught unaware with the proposed and looming NHIF deduction increase on their pay slips by the government.

Following this proposal, KUPPET through Omboko Milemba has strongly come out to oppose the intended review by the government saying that the deductions will affect teachers’ pay slips.
