A Few Days After 7 Million Dormitory was Commissioned By Area MP, Student Have Burnt It Down To Ashes

A dormitory at St Thomas Aquinas Igumori Secondary school in Embu county has been razed down by fire ahead of its commissioning by area MP Hon. Geoffrey King’ang’i.

The dormitory currently in ashes was built through Mbeere South CDF, costing the constituency Ksh 7 MiIlion .

It’s construction focused on increasing the school intake from 300 students to 600 and it’s destruction is likely to hinder the target.

The MP condemned the act terming it as big loss to the school , government and education sector.

“I have just received information that boys dormitory of St Thomas Aquinas lgumori Secondary School has been set on fire. The dormitory was built by Mbeere South NG-CDF at a cost of 7 million which I was to commission within the next few days .

I want to condemn with the strongest terms possible the burning of the dormitory and school property .I urge the school administration,NGAO and Ministry of Education to do thorough investigation to bring to book the criminals of this awful act .” The Mp stated on his Facebook page.

Hon King’ang’i further said that the Ministry of Education and school administrations should come up with ways of averting similar situations in future within the Country.

“We further urge the ministry to come up with deterrent measures to ensure that this action is not repeated elsewhere in other schools. Other School administration should have meeting to know the moods in our schools to avert similar destruction in other Schools in Mbeere South constituency,” the MP noted.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but it is alleged that it’s the students who set it ablaze.

Both the school principal and the area administration leaders have not come out to shade more light on the whole matter.
