Form one selection exercise postponed, Magoha Confirms

The Department of Education has postponed the Form One selection process, which was scheduled for May 28, to June 15.

Speaking in Nairobi on Monday, Education Officer George Magoha did not give a reason for the postponement, but said there was no reason to panic.

He spoke at Joseph Kangethe Primary School.

Magoha said the plan would be free and fair.

The placement of 2020 KCSE students in technical colleges will begin on Monday.

Those who are eligible for university subsidies are also instructed to review their degree selection.

They will be admitted to universities in July.

160,000 places have been found in public and private universities.

The closure, the eight-month school closure and the heart-wrenching effort of online learning did not stop the KCPE candidates from writing the 2020 exams from submitting good marks.

Students, parents, and education administrators were worried that performance would deteriorate as a result of the Covid-19 disruption.

Participants requested that the inspectors deal with different circumstances, but those who were to be baptized faced the storm and were all expected to go on to high school. It is government policy to ensure 100 percent change.

Last month, Magoha promised that all candidates would get a place at a high school as he announced the results on Thursday at the Kenya National Examination Council headquarters.

“We are committed to working with the relevant agencies to ensure that no one gets a place in a high school,” Magoha said.

Of the more than one million people, 8,091 received more than 400 marks. Another 243,320 received between 301 and 400 marks.

Some of the 586,886 students scored between 201 and 300 marks while 262,307 scored between 101 and 200 marks. Only 1,173 students have 100 marks and below.

The results came exactly 23 days after the completion of the test and four months after the start of the delay period. Tests are usually done in November and the results are released in December.
