Kazi mtaani was launched in April 2020 to cushion youths living in the informal settlements during the the Coronavirus pandemic against tough economic experience.

In Novermber 2021, The ministry of Housing rolled out the phase three program which was to commence in January 2022, something which has been delayed as expected.

The ministry through the Permanent Secretary (PS) Charles Hinga disclosed why the Kazi mtaani program is yet to kick off.

Speaking to local media, the Housing PS indicated that the department is waiting for the parliament to pass a supplementary budget for the programme which saw over 1.2 million applications across the country.

The parliament has been on a short recess from December 2nd 2021and is expected to resume house business on January 25th 2022 and this will mean that the youths will have to wait a bit longer even after verification.

The programme is expected to run until 30th June 2022 where the youths will be taken through construction , malaria campaign and eradication where they will learn along and get certificates of training upon completion.
