Kisii High school was established way back in 1934. Its a public non-profit making secondary school that is aimed at disseminating quality education to the learners.
When the school began in 1934, it was mandated to offer artisan courses at primary school in standard four to standard six but unfortunately the school failed to get pupils and had to admit pupils in standard 2-3 with only 15 pupils.
In 1938, the school had 60 pupils and with two streams each carrying 30 pupils in equal proportion from the Luo side and Kisii land. This year, the school presented the first candidates for Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).
In 1945, the secondary section was started and this time it was known as the junior secondary and it was equivalent to standard 7 and 8 now. This time, the population was 60 per class in two streams.
In 1946, the school presented students for Kenya African Preliminary Examination
In 1949, the school started senior secondary, equivalent to form 3 and 4 and the aim was to prepare them for KASSE exams and 1950 it presented students for this exams.
In 1953, the school admitted students for P3 teacher training course which only took three years before it was transferred to Kabianga Teachers College, the present Kabianga High School before later being moved to Kericho Teachers Training College.
In 1956, the school registered 60 students for Cambridge Examinations.
In 1962, the school introduced “A” Level with 30 students just in one stream. In 1963, it presented its candidates for “A” Level examinations
In 2012, the school was promoted to a national status.

The school has population of 2100 students as per now who are competing for fewer resources which are not available due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The school is calling upon well wishers to help it construct ten more classes to achieve the one meter rule as it is outlined in the Covid-19 protocols.
The current principal of the school is Mr. Maurice Ogutu and the deputy principal is Mr. Edwin Nyaboga. The school has a staff of 102 teachers as per now.
