KNEC Reveals The Grading System for 2020/2021 Examinations Per Subject

Kenya National Examination council is a state corporation mandated to set , distribute, carry out marking ,analyze  and manage examinations across the country.

Teachers ,Examiners and students have always had curiosity over years  and sought  to know the examination grading system used to grade students in various subjects that include ; Mathematics,English ,Kiswahili , Chemistry, Biology,Physics , Geography, History,Business studies , Agriculture,Christian religious education,Music ,Metal work,Computer,Electricity,Homescience, Drawing ,art and design .

The grading system has always been altered depending on overall performance across the country .Results  determine the professional growth  of teachers and students. The  following  is  the current grading system per subject as released by knec:

102;KISWAHILI

A(78-100), A-(73-77), B+(68-72), B(63-67), B-(58-62), C+(53-57), C(48-52), C-(43-47), D+(38-42), D(33-37), D-(28-32), E(0-27)

101;ENGLISH

A(80-100), A-(75-79), B+(70-74), B(65-69) ,B-(60-64), C+(55-59), C(50-54), C-(45-49), D+(40-44), D(35-39), D-(30-34), E(0-29)

231;BIOLOGY

Kenya National examination council being a key player in determining career  of students decided to release the grading system to help teachers  guide learners towards putting strength in various subjects and strike a balance inorder to improve performance of  students  .

2020/2021 will be the most awaited year for KCSE results. Education system was interrupted by Covid-19  compelling Education cabinet secretary Dr.Magoha to close schools indefinitely through a presidential order thereby putting learning into a hault for  several  months. Students  have since been affected and taken time to  re-adjust back to normalcy amid strict regulations of social distancing in class and wearing  of masks . Nevertheless ,knec grading system is likely to be lowered this year inorder to obtain a normal performance curve to offset Corona virus pandemic effect .
