This is a high school for boys riding in Nairobi, Kenya. The school was founded in 1959 by the late Dr. Geoffrey Griffin and other participants; the late Joseph Gikubu and the late Geoffrey Geturo. It is an institution that helps the poor and provides education. The school started as a boys’ rescue center where the first 17 boys left the Kariokor Rescue Center in Nairobi. At that time, after the MaMu revolt, there was an increase in the number of street children and homeless Maumau orphans. They chose the word ‘Starehe’ since it is a Swahili word meaning ‘comfort’ which is why it was a place where orphaned students could find comfort in its humble place.

Starehe Boys Center is a member of the International Round Square school organization that provides education to children from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom are poor.
